What is the Significance of the Living Enlightened Master?

All scriptures, all literature, all methods of teachings can only inspire you; they can give only technical knowledge and technique. Books, cassettes, and DVDs can only create inspiration in you but cannot give experience. Experience can only be transmitted. The process of initiation can be done only by an Enlightened Master. Experience is like a lamp. Only from a burning lamp you can light a lamp. In the same way, living enlightenment can only be transmitted from a living enlightened master to a disciple.

The body and mind need to be prepared to hold the energy of enlightenment. The techniques of Nithya Yoga prepare the body. Meditation techniques prepare the mind. But ultimately, for the change to be permanent, your very bio-memory has to change, to hold and radiate the experience of living enlightenment. This can happen through initiation - the touch of the master, directly transmitting the energy after which different dimensions of you can start getting awakened. Your muscles can catch the memory of living enlightenment only when you live around the master. Be open and available to the Master’s presence for him to transmit this flame and awaken your enlightened consciousness.
