Ma Ranjitha files defamation case against Kanchi Seer
Ranjitha charges him with making defamatory remarks about her

Actor Ranjitha, a disciple of Nityananda, on Monday appeared before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Egmore, and filed a complaint against the Kanchi Acharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswati, alleging that he had made defamatory remarks about her.

After receiving the complaint from her, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate V.P. Ravindran posted the case for further proceedings on Wednesday.

In her complaint, Ms. Ranjitha stated that she was a strong believer in Hinduism and that she had become a disciple of Swami Nityananda (recently appointed pontiff to the Madurai Adheenam) after listening to his religious discourses.

She alleged that in an interview last Wednesday, Sri Jayendra Saraswati had commented about her and Nityananda in a manner maligning their swami-devotee relationship.

Claiming that this was done intentionally to defame her and that she had been subjected to agony and stress owing to this, she wanted the court to take cognisance of an offence of defamation under Section 499 of the IPC.
