FLASH NEWS: NITHYANANDA ASHRAMITES ARRESTED

Bidadi ashram, 08 June 2012: A press meet held today by Nithyananda ashramites was disrupted by the some anti-social elements who created a furore and  threatened to destroy the ashram and the spiritual movement. Based on a complaint made by the chief editor Ajit of Suvarna channel who had accompanied this group yesterday, 16 ashramites and volunteers were taken into custody under sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to breach peace) and 506(criminal intimidation) read with 149 of the Indian Penal Code. Eight of these were later released while the rest will be produced before the Ramanagara Judicial Magistrate tonight. Three of the ashramites who had been physically assaulted underwent a medical examination at Ramanagara Hospitalas part of the mandatory procedure.

No action has been taken by the police on the complaints made by the ashramites.
