1. ARDHA PADMA ASANA
Practising Padmasna half way through is called ARDHA PADMA ASANA. Sit in ARDHA PADMA ASANA or sit comfortably
TECHNIQUE
- Place the left foot under the right thigh
- Now place the right foot onto the left thigh
- Concentrate on the tip of the nose. Keep your hands on your thighs in chin mudra
- Settle in this posture for 30 seconds
2. SHOONYAKA KUMBHAKA
SAURA PURAANA, CHAPTER 12, VERSES 22-24
TECHNIQUE
- Exhale completely
- Hold the breath outside the body (keep your lungs empty) as long as you can
- Now visualize the moon on the top of your head
- Visualize nectar oozing out of it and Mentally suck the nectar
- When you cannot hold anymore, inhale slowly
- Do this 21 times

3. ANTAH KUMBHAKA
KUMBHAKA PADDHATHI, VERSE 28
TECHNIQUE
- Close your eyes and Unclutch
- Inhale hold the breath inside without any thoughts as long as you can
- Exhale, relax and breathe normally 2 or 3 times
- Do this 21 times

4. BAHIH KUMBHAKA
KUMBHAKA PADDHATHI, VERSE 31
TECHNIQUE
- Exhale slowly and completely
- Hold the breath outside without having any thoughts or visualisations, judiciously as long as possible
- Relax and inhale slowly
- Do this 21 times

5. KEVALEE KUMBHAKA
GHERANDA SAMHITA, UPADESHA 5, VERSE 84
TECHNIQUE
- Inhale along with the internal chanting of the mantra “sam”
- Hold as long as you can judiciously
- While holding the breath, chant internally the mantra “soham” slowly
- Exhale with the internal chanting of the mantra “ham”
- Do this 21 times
NEXT-
6. BHOROLIKA
JOGA PRADEEPIKA, VERSES 477 TO 481
TECHNIQUE
- Along with the a humming sound inhale completely
- Without using the fingers to close the nose retain the breath inside as long as you can
- When you can't hold more, release the breath through the nostrils without humming
- Repeat this 21 times
NEXT-
7. KUMBHARAAJA KUMBHAKA
KUMBHAKA PADDHATHI, VERSE 134
TECHNIQUE
- Inhale forcefully
- Hold the breath to the maximum capacity of your lungs by closing the nostrils
- Exhale when you feel you cannot hold any more
- Do this 21 times
NEXT-
8. SOORYA BHEDANA KUMBHAKA
KUMBHAKA PADDHATI, VERSE 126 & 127
TECHNIQUE
- Inhale with sound through the right nostril till the throat gets filled
- Hold as long as you can judiciously
- Exhale as slowly as you can through the left nostril
- Do this 21 times
